Description
This newly revised and expanded edition of A Field Guide to the Casper Mountain Area is built upon the 1978 work of Dana P. Van Burgh, Jr., Beecher E. Strube, Peggy Knittel, Carl Jenkins, Bart Rea and Gary Keimig (illustrations).
The guide provides a self-guiding tour covering the geology and biology of the Casper Mountain-Muddy Mountain area. The guide starts at Wolcott and College Drive, following the Casper Mountain Road up the north face and down the south face of Casper Mountain, up Muddy Mountain Road and back to Casper via Circle Drive Road (on the south side of Casper Mountain) to the junction with the Alcova Highway (U.S. 220). Included are side trips to Rotary Park (Garden Creek Falls), the Hogadon Road to the Archery Range, Strube Loop and the Braille Trail and East End Road to the Crimson Dawn Museum. Also offered are side trips through the Bessemer Bend area and finally Hat Six Road on the east end of Casper Mountain.
